Kathmandu: In a significant development, five doctors have been apprehended in connection with a case involving fraudulent educational certificates.

The Chief of Nepal Police's Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Additional Inspector General of Police Kiran Bajracharya, revealed that Sunil Kumar Sharma and four others were taken into custody.

A comprehensive operation led by the CIB resulted in the arrest of the individuals, identified as Dr. Rambabu Yadav, Dr. Ranjit Yadav, Dr. Elina Sah, and Dr. Amit Chaudhary.

These doctors were reportedly employed in various hospitals and medical institutions. The CIB's diligent efforts have continued uninterrupted, even during the night.

Earlier in the day, the CIB team successfully apprehended MP Sharma from Golfutar, situated in the heart of Kathmandu.

Acting on intelligence received from official sources, the police initiated the operation today. This move was prompted by suspicions that some doctors had submitted counterfeit Indian certificates, securing registration with the Nepal Medical Council and participating in the council's certification examinations.

The law enforcement authorities have initiated a thorough investigation into the backgrounds of these individuals, with a specific focus on the legitimacy of their educational credentials.
